What to Look for When Purchasing
Choose stems that have blooms that are at least 75% open. Avoid stems with any brown flowers or yellowing leaves.

Design Tips
Aster Matsumoto adds a fantastic pop of color and texture to floral designs. Generally used as a filler in bouquets and arrangements, Aster Matsumoto can add a surprising twist to personal flowers such as corsages, boutonnieres, and bridal bouquets. Be sure to hydrate well prior to designing, overnight is preferable.

Pest & Disease Information
Although Botrytis sensitivity is low, Matsumoto Asters tend to mold if there is not enough airflow between bunches. Do not over pack boxes or buckets to allow good airflow and avoid temperature fluctuations during shipping to prevent any condensation inside packaging. Avoid getting blooms wet. Flowers susceptible to Itersonilia petal blight. Myclobutanil, potassium bicarbonate, and propiconazole were reported to be effective treatments. (McGovern, R.J., et al. Troubleshooting
Treat with FloraLife® HydraFlor 100 after harvest. Use FloraLife® Quick Dip 100 when processing at retail level. Monitor solution levels daily, this particular crop is very thirsty and requires a lot of solution to avoid dehydration.
