What to Look for When Purchasing
At the time of harvest, one bud should show color (but not open). Number of flower buds per stem is an important characteristic. Look for transparent, dried or dropped flower buds which are signs of ethylene damage.
Foam Info
Leaf yellowing can be an issue in foam. Make sure foam is kept well hydrated.
Design Tips
This product is very versatile and can be used for all types of floral work including vases, arrangements and bouquets. It is a very good wedding flower which can be left long for large arrangements or cut short for the bride’s bouquet. These beautiful blossoms work well in mixed seasonal arrangements and more contemporary styled designs. Lilies are excellent focal flowers. As each flower opens, remove the pollen sacks with gloves to prevent pollen staining.
Ethylene Sensitivity
Highly sensitive to ethylene. Bud drop and drying (especially small buds) are the symptoms of ethylene damage.
Pest & Disease Information
Susceptible to botrytis.
Troubleshooting
To prevent bud drop or drying, use an ethylene action inhibitor treatment. For premature leaf yellowing, use an anti-yellowing treatment at farm level after harvest, and use bulb crop or lily specific flower food. Pollen sheds stain whatever they touch. Remove them when the flower opens.
