Care, Handling & Design
Temperature: Depending on cultivar, store at 55-65F (13-18 C) because at lower temperatures chilling damage will occur. Chilling damage symptoms include flowers turning gray to blackish, similar to what a banana looks like after being stored in a refrigerator.
Humidity: 75-85%
Water: Medium water quality. Avoid softened water.
Vase Life: Can last up to 28 days in vase if proper care and handling measures are followed.
What to Look for When Purchasing
The proportion of open flowers on the spadix determines the maturity of the anthurium flower. Flowers should be purchased when the spadix is with at least 50% open flowers. Avoid flowers with chilling injury (brown patches on the spathe) and free of mechanical damage. Anthuriums are commonly packed in moist shredded paper for transport protection.
Foam Info
Be sure floral foam is well soaked prior to design.

Anthurium do best when arranged with other tropical flowers and foliages as they can be stored at warmer temperatures (55-65 F/13-18C). Anthuriums make excellent focal flowers for tropical arrangements and a great alternative to roses on Valentine's Day with their natural heart shape.
Ethylene Sensitivity
Low
Pest & Disease Information
Botrytis on flowers and stems. Use anti-botrytis products during transportation.
Troubleshooting
Brown patches on the spathe due to chilling injury when exposed to temperatures that are lower than 55 F (13 C). Mechanical damage due to spadix or one flower bruising against the spathe of another flower. Proper protection packaging is necessary during transport. Botrytis infection on spathe or at the base of spadix. Keep these flowers away from small children and pets, as they can be poisonous if consumed.
