What to Look for When Purchasing
Flowers should be harvested when the buds are fully colored and 25–50% open, but before the petals have expanded and the pollen is shed. Check for ethylene damage. Anemones can be ethylene sensitive, leading to petal shatter and a shortened vase life if left untreated. Choose strong stems with flowers closed or just beginning to open, although be aware that flowers will close naturally when in cold and dark conditions. Inspect for bruising.
Foam Info

Design Tips
Do not mix with daffodils in the same vase. Anemones are striking in any floral design, delicate petals add a romantic and graceful touch to bridal bouquets. Due to their shorter vase life, make sure that you pair them with flowers that have similar characteristics.
Ethylene Sensitivity
Highly sensitive to ethylene. Sepal (flower) shattering is a common response to ethylene.
Pest & Disease Information
Botrytis on flowers.
Troubleshooting
Petals shatter - associated with ethylene sensitivity. Insist that your supplier treats with an ethylene action inhibitor to protect against exposure. Relatively short vase life (3-8 days). Leaf yellowing – may benefit from bulb specific flower foods. Stem bending – may benefit from upright shipping. And, prone to water stress – dry shipped flowers should be processed immediately into holding solution. Other causes for poor vase life can be cut stage, product age (stored too long) or storing dry for long periods.
