Effect of FloraLife® Finishing Touch on Standard Carnations

Introduction:
Carnation is one of the main ornamental crops. It is used in mixed bouquets, but can also be enjoyed as mono bouquet. It is a crop that can have a long vase life, if it is treated well.
In this Research Update we will present a test on the effect of FloraLife® Finishing Touch on Standard Carnation from Colombia.
FloraLife® Finishing Touch is a product which maximizes the natural freshness of cut flowers by keeping the cut flowers hydrated.
Method:
Flowers were obtained from a flower wholesaler. The stems were recut to 40 cm and foliage under the solution level was removed. Before going into the vases the flowers were sprayed with water (control) or FloraLife® Finishing Touch.
To spray the flowers, we squeezed the spray handle twice from a distance of 20 cm. After spraying, we put the stems in vases that had water only in each vase.

Conclusions:
FloraLife® Finishing Touch prolongs the vase life of standard Carnations.
