Floralife Salutes Gypsophila, the Florist’s Friend

In this month’s issue of LivRio Magazine, Floralife sings the praises of everyone’s favorite filler, gypsophila, a.k.a. Baby’s Breath. And we offer some useful care and handling tips for our flexible little friend.

gypsophilaCommonly known as baby’s breath, gypsophila is to roses as peanut butter is to jelly. They just go together! These tiny white blossoms open successively into massive quantities on multi-branching stems. Gypsophila, commonly used as a filler flower, can also be used to create headpieces, and is the most popular used in all types of bouquets and design work. Gypsophila mixes well with everything, adding a light and airy appearance. Small clusters of blossoms add just the right touch to wedding and corsage design, but don’t let the delicate blooms fool you. Gypsophila, with proper care and handling, can and may outlast the rest of the bouquet.

Floralife’s article covers some common gypsophila defects, and how to overcome them, such as:

  • Dehydration
  • Pinking, and
  • Premature browning
  • Among others…

Then we cover a bunch of useful handling tips, encompassing:

  • Unpacking
  • Bucket prep
  • Sanitation
  • Hydration
  • And more!

Also, we provide tips on avoiding that ever-present danger: ethylene.
