June Focus: Wedding Flowers
June has arrived. This means wedding season is upon us, and with it comes the demand for wedding flowers! Some say that the “June Bride” tradition is evolving, with weddings spreading out more evenly over the entire summer. However you slice it, there will be a lot of money changing hands for wedding flowers in 2015. But how much money?
The bridal industry is a $48 billion powerhouse in the US. $48 billion for receptions, gowns, tuxedos, rings, catering, and on and on. And, of course, wedding flowers. Here are some statistics on the state of wedding floral spending in 2015:
- The average cost of wedding flowers in 2015 is around $1,970.
- Flowers make up 7%-8% of a typical wedding budget
- Which makes sense, because the average cost of a wedding has risen to around $30,000.
- The cost of the bride’s bouquet in 2015 is between $85 and $125
- While the tradition is not as prevalent as in the past, 68% of brides will still toss the bouquet at their wedding reception. That means 68% will be purchasing the throwing bouquet!
Just for fun, let’s look at where other slices of the $30,000 go!
- Average wedding dress: $1,357,
- Average engagement ring: $5,855
- Average wedding planner: $1,973
- Average venue: $14,006
And remember, $30K is the average. The cost of a wedding in Manhattan stands at $76K, while a Utah ceremony costs a modest $15K.
