Article Excerpt: Floralife® TransportCARE™ waxed paper Imagine this: a flower preservative product inspired by the shoe industry? That’s Floralife’s new TransportCARE™ paper, a wax floral paper impregnated with chlorine dioxide to inhibit the spread of botrytis. The paper (shown off here by Floralife’s Jim Daly and Carol Schram) is used in place of newspaper or plain paper in packing boxes for shipment from farm to florist. Aimed primarily at the cut rose market, where botrytis spread inside the packing cases can be a problem, the paper’s qualities last for 7 to 10 days. Floralife® Crowning Glory® Product Line Launched
Liquid shield for flower freshness
A well recognized brand for years by floral designers, Floralife® Crowning Glory® Solution spray keeps arrangements fresher and customers satisfied. This easy to apply liquid shield holds in moisture which reduces water loss, keeping flowers more vibrant. Often used in delicate traditional wedding flowers, such as gardenias, stephanotis, roses, and lilies, where the arrangements are in no or little water, it’s the final hydrating step.
Other uses:
- Use on both needle and broadleaved evergreens to reduce desiccation. Try it on evergreen wreaths, swags, boughs, garlands, kissing balls, crosses, centerpieces, and cornucopias.
- Great for either cut foliage or indoor plants. If using on pot plants, avoid those with fuzzy, hairy leaves such as African Violets.
- Prevent shedding of dried flowers when used prior to designing arrangements. Dip them into the product for full coverage. Flower colors will be more vibrant and striking.

Directions for Use:

Floralife® TransportCARE™ Waxed Paper Now Available
New Floralife® TransportCARE™ paper is a postharvest waxed tissue specially designed and formulated for the intended use to inhibit the premature spread of plant pathogen spores, such as Botrytis cinerea, on flowers and foliage. Botrytis cinerea is a widespread pathogen which causes a disease known as gray mold, or Botrytis blight. The host preferences of this fungus include virtually every plant grown in a greenhouse or field production. It is for use during the transport of flowers.
Growers can recognize Botrytis cinerea by the coating of grayish brown mold that forms on dead tissue when it sporulates. Wounded or older issues and flower parts are very susceptible.
Some of the crops especially prone to Botrytis blight are rose, snapdragon, lisianthus, gerbera, dahlia, zinnia, anemone, geranium, exacum, primula, bacopa, fuchsia, cyclamen, poinsettias, and vinca.
